A plurality of machining tanks 1 and 1' reducing plane area as much as possible and driven in the vertical direction to be fluid-tight and slidable are provided. A means for successively moving the machining tanks 1 and 1' to electric discharge machining positions by rotary or linear driving is provided. The workpieces 3 and 3' are replaced in the air by lowering the one machining tanks 1 and 1' while performing electric discharge machining in the other machining tanks 1 and 1'. After machining liquid levels 8 and 8' are recovered by lifting the machining tanks 1 and 1' again, the replaced workpieces 3 and 3' are placed at the electric discharge machining positions.
