There is provided an electric discharge machine 1 which includes a main shaft 18 holding and rotating an electrode tool 13 formed by lathe turning on a chuck 12, and a work support table 7 supporting a work W, and generates a discharge by applying a voltage between the electrode tool 13 and work W to process the work W through mutual movement between the main shaft 18 and work W, the electric discharge machine including a cutter holder 3 provided on a common bed 2 together with the main shaft 18 and work support table 7 and supporting a lathe tool 10 in a lathe movable state, and the electrode tool 13 which has the chuck 12 configured to hold a shaft-like base material 27 before lathe processing of the electrode tool 13 and also has the shaft-like base material 27 held by the chuck 12 and lathe with a lathing tool 10 through rotation of the main shaft 18 to be made into the electrode tool 13 held by the main spindle 18.
