PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small electric double layer capacitor with a large capacitance which can be manufactured easily, and to provide a capacitor device with a smaller internal resistance capable of obtaining a higher output density per unit volume.
SOLUTION: An electric double layer capacitor 1 consists of a plurality of electrode plates 3 stacked between long separators 2 which are alternately folded at every predetermined length thereof and are impregnated with an electrolytic solution. There are flexible current collecting members 4 connected to the ends of respective electrode plates 3 and are pulled out from between the separators 2. The current collecting members 4 of same polarity are bundled together on the same side for each polarity, and the bundled current collecting members 6, 7 for each polarity are disposed on the different outermost layer side in the stacking direction. In a capacitor device in which a plurality of electric double layer capacitors 1 are stacked in the stacking direction of the electrode plate 3, the bundled current collecting members 7 of a capacitor are connected to the bundled current collecting members 6 of an adjacent capacitor. Case members in which the capacitors 1 are put in are stacked, and the stacked case members are coupled each other with clip members.
