Abstract:
To provide an inexpensive, reliable electric double-layer capacitor by solving the problems of an increase in costs and the deterioration of characteristics due to moisture entering from a safety valve by providing the safety valve.
In the electric double-layer capacitor, a capacitor element 1 is stored in a metal case 2 along with an electrolyte for drive, and an opening is sealed by a terminal board 3. In the electric double-layer capacitor, a gas adsorbent 6 with active carbon having a specific surface area of 100 m2/g or higher, zeolite, or a calcium compound of BF4or BF6as main constituents is buried into a hollow section 1a in the capacitor element 1, thus preventing the inner pressure of the metal case 2 from increasing since the gas is adsorbed by the gas adsorbent 6, even if gas is generated inside due to, for example, the application of overvoltage at high temperature for a long time, and maintaining improved characteristics for a long time.
