To provide an electric fan equipped with a safety device for preventing troubles due to the deterioration of components when used for a long time.

The electric fan includes: a support arranged on the upper part of a base placed on a floor; a base part provided on the upper part of the support; and a motor case rotatably attached to the upper part of the base part. In the electric fan, a fan motor 5 driving a blower fan 6 is arranged in the motor case, a guard covering the blower fan 6 is attached to the front face of the motor case, and an initial operation detecting means 9, a timer means 10, and a power supply means 11 are provided on a control device 8 of the electric fan. When power is supplied to the control device 8 for the first time, the initial operation detecting means 9 is operated. When the initial operation detecting means 8 detects the beginning of using the equipment, the timer means 10 starts count. The power supply means 11 is operated with the output power that the timer means 10 counts for a predetermined time to disconnect a power circuit, and energization to electric components such as the fan motor 5 is stopped.
