Abstract:
To solve a problem that an electric fuel pump cannot pressure-feed fuel when a brush of the electric fuel pump is worn away in excess of a certain amount.SOLUTION: A rotor RT is accommodated in a cylindrical stator ST. A impeller 25 for pressure-feeding fuel is installed to a central shaft 14 of the rotor RT. A conductive brush 34 for supplying electric power to the rotor RT is in contact with a commutator 15 of the rotor RT. The brush 34 is energized toward the commutator 15 by a helical spring 36. A linear and conductive pigtail 37 extends from a power supply terminal 33 connected to an external power supply to a brush 34. In an electric fuel pump 10, a preparatory electric line is provided that runs from the power supply terminal 33 to the installation area of the brush 34 to the pigtail 37 via the helical spring 36 without passing through the pigtail 37. A high-resistance member 35 having a higher electric resistance than the pigtail 37 is interposed on the preparatory electric line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
