PURPOSE: To save energy consumption in an electric 'Kotatsu' (foot warmer), by providing a temperature sensor, which controls the temperature in the 'Kotatsu' further by detecting the temperature of the air flowing through an air passage in a heating unit whether it is constant or not, on the side of the intake opening of an air passage in the heating unit.
CONSTITUTION: A fan unit 2 and heaters 1 are provided to a heater unit 7. The heater unit 7 is fitted to the back side of the top plate of a 'Kotatsu' framework. A temperature sensor 5 is installed on the side of the intake opening of an air passage 6 in the heater unit 7. It controls the temperature inside the 'Kotatsu', and further controls the temperature in it by detecting the temperature of the air flowing through the air passage 6 whether it is kept constant or not. Although to keep a predetermined temperature inside the 'Kotatsu' and heating capacity to take warmth out of it are the same as those of conventional appliances, the point of this device is a temperature sensor which serves to save energy by automatic control to lower the temperature in the 'Kotatsu' when nobody is taking warmth and a predetermined temperature has been kept for a predetermined time.
