To provide an electric linear actuator which easily advances or retreats a screw shaft manually in the axis direction even if it becomes difficult to start a motor, and reduces the number of components, the size and the weight.
The electric linear actuator is composed of: a housing; a motor held in this housing; a nut member rotatably held to the housing; the screw shaft to be screwed into the nut member; a driving shaft directly connected to the motor; a rotation transmission member rotatably supported around the driving shaft; a rotation follower member which is fixed to the nut member and is taken around by the rotation transmission member; a clutch member to which rotation of the driving shaft is transmitted and which is provided in such a manner to advance and retreat in the axis direction on the driving shaft and which is engaged with the rotation transmission member at the engagement position and is disengaged with the rotation transmission member at the retreated position; and a setting lever which can set the clutch member either in the advanced position or in the retreated position.
