An electric lock 7 comprises: a case 21; a motor 22 housed in the case 21; a screw shaft 23 connected to an output shaft of the motor 22; a slider 24 linearly movably guided to the case 21 and having a female screw engageable on the screw shaft 23; and a dead bolt 11 which can protrude from or retreat into the case 21. When the motor 22 rotates the screw shaft 23 around its shaft line in one direction, the slider 24 moves linearly in one of the shaft line directions of the screw shaft 23, and the dead bolt 11 abutting with the slider 24 protrudes from the case 21. When the motor 22 rotates the screw shaft 23 in the other direction, the slider 24 moves linearly in the other of the shaft line directions of the screw shaft, and the dead bolt 11 abutting with the slider 24 enters the case 21.
