To provide an electric motor which can prevent noise of high sound quality, enhance productivity of an armature, and further improve rectification properties, and to provide an electric motor which can improve motor performance while reducing the production cost, and can be made compact.
An electric motor includes: a yoke having a plurality of permanent magnets; a rotary shaft; a plurality of teeth 12 fitted to the rotary shaft; an armature core 8 having a slot 13; an armature coil 9 wound around the respective teeth 12 in a concentration winding manner; a commutator provided to the rotary shaft, in which a plurality of segments 15 are arranged in a circumferential direction; a low-speed brush 21a and high-speed brush 21b supplying electric power to the armature coil 9 through the segments; and a common brush 21c used in common thereto. The number ratio of the magnetic poles, slots 13, and segments 15 is set to 2:3:3n, where (n) is a natural number equal to or larger than 3.
