PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor capable of achieving suppression of the generation of spark discharge and life prolongation while suppressing the generation of brush sliding noise and vibration during rotation of an armature.SOLUTION: A commutator 47 includes: a commutator body 51 that is an insulator; a plurality of segment pieces 52 arranged through slits 53 in the peripheral direction on an outer-peripheral surface 51b of the commutator body 51. If a width of a brush in the peripheral direction is W1 and a width of the slit 53 in the peripheral direction is W2, the width W1 and the width W2 are set to satisfy 0.7 mm≤W2≤W1/2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
