PURPOSE: To realize effective utilization of surplus electric power by obtaining a configuration of an electric power storage apparatus which can be installed in small scale companies or ordinary households.
CONSTITUTION: A rotating shaft 2 is inserted through a housing whose inside is kept at the atmospheric condition. A radial gaseous bearing 3 is provided between the external circumferencial surface of this rotating shaft 2 and an internal circumferencial surface of the atmospheric housing 1. At the interior of a vacuum housing 6 whose inside is kept at the vacuum condition, a fly wheel 10 is fixed on the rotating shaft 2. Permanent magnets 11, 11 are fixed on this fly wheel 10. Superconductors 15, 15 provided at the inside of the vacuum housing 6 are provided opposed to permanent magnets 11, 11 to form a superconducting thrust bearing 22. A motor 21 also operating as a generator rotates the rotating shaft 2 based on the external power feeding and electric power is generated by rotation of this rotating shaft 2 when external power feeding fails.
