This electric power system shutdown system is provided with: a load data storage portion 21, which stores load data by associating data which specifies electric power loads with the degree of importance of the loads; a system data receiving portion 23, which receives the operation condition data of an electric power system 2; a failure determining portion 24, which determines the presence of occurrence of a system failure; a power quantity determining portion 25, which determines whether electric power is in oversupply or short supply in the electric power system 2; a shutdown load determining portion 26, which determines an electric power load which should be shutdown from the electric power system 2 when the failure determining portion 24 determines the occurrence of a failure and the power quantity determining portion 25 determines the short supply of electric power; and a shutdown signal transmitting portion 27, which transmits a signal for shutting down power supply to the electric power load determined by the shutdown load determining portion 26 to a circuit breaker 41 connected to the electric power load.
