The electric power tool includes a motor 1 as a driving source, a reduction gear mechanism portion 4 for reducing the rotation power of the motor 1 and transmitting the power to an output portion 3, a switching mechanism portion 8 for switching the reduction gear ratio of the reduction gear mechanism portion 4, a control portion 60 for controlling the switching mechanism portion 8, and a driving state sensing portion 62 for sensing the driving state of the motor 1. The reduction gear mechanism portion 4 switches between a high-speed low-torque state and a low-speed high-torque state by means of the switching mechanism portion 8. The control portion 60 performs control of the switching of the reduction gear ratio when the sensed driving state satisfies predetermined conditions, and further includes an informing portion 80 for informing the switching operation of the reduction gear ratio.
