To fix an outer mirror in an optional position by rotating a release member integrally with a rotating shaft to rotate and displace an outer mirror unit, after releasing the engagement of an engaging means with a clearance by the release member displaced by a drive.
When an outer mirror 31 is rotated and returned from a housing position to a using position, an operation switch is operated to use side, whereby a motor 44 is reversely driven. A release lever part 53b pushes out a roller 49 against the energization of a spring member 51 by the rotation of a drive gear 45 and driven gear part interlocked with the reverse drive of the motor 44 to release the engagement state of the opposed surfaces of the outside surface of a fixed shaft part 46 and the inside surface of an outer race 47 by the roller 46. An engagement part 53c abuts to the wall, surface of a recessed part 47b by continuing the drive of the motor 44 to start the rotation of the outer race 47, a rotating shaft 48, and the outer mirror unit 31.
