To provide an electric stove, capable of quickly detecting that the electric stove is covered with a combustible material such as curtain or laundry by use of a temperature sensor without using a special detection means such as thermal fuse or transceiver.
The electric stove comprises heaters H1 and H2; the temperature sensor 9 for detecting the ambient temperature of the heaters; and a control device 10 for controlling the heaters or the like according to a detection value of the temperature sensor. The control device includes a rise rate detection means for calculating a temperature rise rate from output of the temperature sensor; a storage part 10e for storing predetermined data; and a determination part 10d for comparing the temperature rise rate detected by the detection means with a reference value preset in the storage part to determine abnormal overheat around the heaters. At least either of output of alarm and interruption of feed to the heaters is executed according to the determination result of the determination part.
