Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric system having the function of protection from leakage current and arcs. SOLUTION: An electric system, such as a system supplying power to an electric appliance 11, has the function of protection against arc current, that is connected to or separated from a ground fault circuit interruptor(GFCI). A detection lead 19 is placed between a power line 15 transmitting power to loads and a neutral wire 17 but is not connected to a load 13. Further, a maintainability checking device 51 is connected from the detection lead 19 to the power line 15 to judge the continuity of the detection lead 19, but currents passing through the maintainability checking device 51 are limited to very small ones. Should an arc current greater than a predetermined magnitude arise in the detection lead 19, an SCR 29 is actuated to open normally closed switches 23, 25 via a solenoid coil 27 to open a circuit.
