Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve reliability by obtaining normal traveling performance even at the time of a trouble of an inverter and to reduce size, weight and cost of an electric system.
CONSTITUTION: An electric system for an electric motor vehicle has a battery 1 as a power source, and drives AC motors 50 for driving wheels through an inverter. The inverter has two two-phase inverters 40a, 40b formed of two half bridge type single-phase inverters. The motor 50 has four-phase windings. AC output side power supply lines 51a1, 51a2, 51b1, 51b2 of the respective single- phase inverter are respectively connected to the four-phase windings of the motor 50, and the motor 50 can be driven in four phases by the inverters 40a, 40b. When the two-phase inverter is defective, it is disconnected, and the motor 50 is two-phase driven by the other two-phase inverter.
