To provide an electric vacuum cleaner of a high usability of which the operation does not stop during the cleaning operation by stabilizing the connected state between the body and a connecting pipe.
The electric vacuum cleaner includes: an at-hand operating section 11a which operates the suction force of an electric blower 2; a hose which is installed between the at-hand operating section 11a and the body; and the connecting pipe for connecting the body with the hose. The electric vacuum cleaner also includes: a connecting pipe detecting means 33 which detects the insertion of the connecting pipe into the body; and a moving means 46 which moves the connecting pipe to a specified position. When the connecting pipe has been inserted in the body, the connecting pipe is moved to the specified position. Therefore, a user is prevented from performing cleaning under an imperfect connected state, and the body does not damage a floor surface by falling down, or the vacuum cleaner body does not break by the impact when falling down. In addition, the connected state is stabilized, and the operation does not stop during the cleaning operation, and the electric vacuum cleaner of the high usability can be provided.
