To provide a controller of an electric vehicle in which regenerative energy can be absorbed effectively by assuring predetermined acceleration performance.
The controller of an electric vehicle comprises an engine, a generator, a converter, an inverter means, a power accumulation means, a control means, a motor, a unit 62 for operating a reference rotational speed signal Fr, and a section 52 for calculating the running position distance in kilometers Dis_h with reference to each station distance in kilometers by referring to a mileage obtained by integrating the Fr and each station distance in kilometers database and recognizing arrival at station. It is further provided with a section 53 for calculating an average forward inclination Inc_h, i.e. an inclination amount for every predetermined distance interval, with reference to an inclination database by receiving the Dis_h, and a section 54 for selecting a marginal charge limit pattern Chg_pat and a marginal discharge limit pattern Dch_pat for making possible to absorb an appropriate regeneration power based on the Inc_h.
