PURPOSE: To prevent the deterioration of characters by a high temperature to a lead acid battery by interrupting the heat with the ventilating passage from a methanol reformer and a fuel cell of which the peripheral temperature is raised in power generation and by arranging the lead acid battery accordingly.
CONSTITUTION: In a forklift where there are a methanol reformer 1, a fuel cell 2 and a lead acid battery 4 under a driver's seat 50, the output of the fuel cell 2 is supplied to a travelling and loading motors through a DC/DC converter or supplied to a lead acid battery 4 for charging when the motors are stopped. In the peak load of travelling and loading the outputs of the fuel cell and lead acid battery are used. The methanol reformer 1 converts water and methanol into hydrogen with a high temperature catalyst layer. The reformer 1 supplies the hydrogen to the lead acid battery for generation. Since the lead acid battery raises its temperature while it is charged, it is arranged on the other side of a ventilation passage 46 in order to prevent it against the high temperature, so that the deterioration of the lead acid battery can be prevented.
