To reduce entanglement of a cloth and a rotating load torque due to the rotation of a pulsator.
This washing machine accumulates wash water in the bottom of an outer tub 6 till such a level as non-exceeding the height of the pulsator 4, normally/inversely rotates the pulsator having a protrusion part 4a and through holes 4b formed by avoiding the crest part of the protrusion part, and executes the washing of circulating the wash water to sprinkle it on laundry while repeatedly applying an upward component force to the laundry. The internal circumferential wall surface of a washing and spin-drying tub 2 is provided with a plurality of inclined surface 5b positioned in a height of facing to the pulsator, formed of a swelling part 5a, and inclinedly extending to become sequentially higher in the circumferential direction; and a projecting strip 5c vertically extending from the crest part of the inclined face.
