To provide an electric wire processing device and an electric wire processing method that are easily adapted to various electric wires for either manual handling or automatic operation, and can make a cut in an insulating coating while preventing a core wire or a shield braid from being damaged.
An electric wire processing device includes a pair of electric wire clamps 20 put close to each other to grip an electric wire 90, a pair of cutting cutters 30 biting into an insulating coating 91 of the electric wire 90, a guide member 50 guiding the electric wire 90 positioned between the electric wire clamps 20, and restriction means 60 of restricting the pair of cutting cutters 30 from moving to each other. The guide member 50 is provided to move forward and back between a guide position where the electric wire 90 is guided and a standby position where the guide member retracts from the guide position to leave the electric wire 90. The restriction means 60 restricts movements of the cutting cutters 30 when the guide member 50 is at the standby position, and removes the restriction on the cutting cutters 30 when the guide member 50 moves to the guide position.
