Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire protection device capable of reducing an arithmetic processing amount related to estimation of wire temperature.SOLUTION: A CPU 63 of a microcomputer 6 of an on-vehicle electric wire protection device 1 estimates temperature of an electric wire 4 on the basis of signals obtained from a temperature detection section 7 and a current detection section 53 and, when the estimated temperature of the electric wire 4 exceeds a threshold value, executes switching control for an FET 51 and turns off energization of the electric wire 4. The CPU 63, when the estimated temperature of the electric wire 4 is low, can reduce an arithmetic processing amount related to the estimation of the wire temperature by increasing a time interval until temperature of the electric wire 4 is estimated next.
