Abstract:

PURPOSE: To aim at saving electrical power consumption, by carrying out inertial rotation with the source of electrical power being cut-off upon no load operation until the rotation decreases below a predetermined speed, thereafter by restarting the power source for increasing the rotation upto the predetermined speed, after which the power source is again cut-off.

CONSTITUTION: In a grinding machine or the like, it is necessary to continue rotation even when the working process is interrupted. When no load condition is established at the time B after the completion of the working process with the electrical power consumption E being (a) and the spindle speed N being (n), the motor is deenergized. The spindle speed N gradually decreases since the spindle inertially rotates. The motor is again reenergized at the time A' when the spindle speed decreases down to (b). Therefore, the electrical power consumption E2 temporarily increases. The motor is deenergized at the time B' when the spindle speed N again reaches (b) so that the spindle inertially rotates. These steps are repeated until the restart of the next working process. With this method, electrical power is saved, since no electrical power is consumed during the period between the times B and A', in comparison with the conventional arrangements which leave electrical power continuously fed.
