PURPOSE: To surely protect the overheat of an electric motor by forming an overload protecting device integrally with a PTC thermal element for driving the electric motor and constituting the protecting device so as to be directed towards the electric motor side.

CONSTITUTION: The bracket 3 of a compressor body 1 covers electrical equipment 4 by a protector cover 5. A PTC thermal element 23 is formed integrally with an overload protecting device 16 by an adhesive 25, and the overload protecting device 16 is arranged close to the body 1 side so that the temperature of the body 1 can be sensed. Therefore, the heat of the PTC thermal element 23 can be sufficiently sensed, and the time from the operation to the return of the overload protecting device 16 can be maintained sufficiently long.
