Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulator that is easy to manufacture.
SOLUTION: An electrical insulator includes a laminated tube 1 for use as the support for an elastomer material cover constituting a plurality of annular ribs projecting from the tube. In order to guide an optical waveguide 6, two circular grooves 4A, 4C and a helical groove 4B are formed in the exterior wall of the tube. The circular grooves 4A, 4C form a part of an abutting surface formed at the end of the tube, and the metal fittings 2, 3 of the insulator are fitted and fixed in the grooves. The optical waveguide is embedded in the bottoms of the grooves 4A, 4B, 4C in an elastomer material 5.
