Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled fiber suitable for incorporation in the cloths for sterile garments to be subjected to radiation sterilization, by spinning and drawing, under specified conditions, a conjugated fiber made up of white electrically conductive fine particle-incorporated polybutylene terephthalate and an aromatic copolyester.

CONSTITUTION: A conjugate fiber made up of (A) white electrically conductive fine particle (pref. titanium dioxide particles coated with tin dioxide)- incorporated polybutylene terephthalate and (B) an aromatic copolyester outstanding in fiber formability with a melting point of 200W240°C [pref. poly(ethylene terephthalate/isophthalate)] is spun at ≤260°C, wound at a speed of ≥3,000m/min followed by drawing by a factor of 1.02W1.35 at temperatures higher than the glass transition point of the component B by 40W90°C, thus obtaining the objective fiber with an electrical resistance of ≤5×108Ω/cm.
