PURPOSE: To set a preinjection period easily by forming at least one control bore connected to an accumulator in an axial conduit opening to control bores in a rotary spool valve constituting a distributing device.
CONSTITUTION: A distribution type fuel injection pump comprises a distributing device 15 including a rotary spool valve 46. The rotary spool valve 46 is driven by a drive shaft 2 arranged partially integrated with a cam 4 for driving a pump plunger 27 to move reciprocally, via coupling fingers 12, 13. In this case, at least one control bore 57 is formed in an axial conduit 44 opening to control bores 42, 47, 53 cooperating with a partial line 37a extending from a work chamber 35 distributed over the circumference of the rotary spool valve 46, a pressure relief conduit 49 opened and closed by an electromagnetic valve 50 and a pressure conduit 55 to injection sites 56. The control bore 57 is connected to an accumulator (not shown in the drawing).
