To curtail a shaft sealing member provided in a driving shaft and a driven shaft in an electrically-operated roots type compressor to trim power losses caused by the shaft sealing member.
The electrically-operated roots type compressor is equipped with a housing 11 for housing a couple of rotors 22, 23, a driving shaft 20 that is driven by an electric motor 19 and is connected coaxially with one rotor 22, and a driven shaft 21 that is rotated synchronously with the driving shaft 20 via a timing gear and is connected coaxially with the other rotor 23. A driving-side bearing for pivoting rotatably the driving shaft 20 is arranged between the timing gear and the one rotor 22. Besides, at least a rotor-side shaft end of the driving shaft 20 is made free end and a driven shaft side bearing for pivoting the driven shaft 21 is arranged between the timing gear and the other rotor 23. Then, at least a driven-shaft 21-side shaft end corresponding to the rotor-side shaft end of the driving shaft 20 is made free.
