PURPOSE: To enhance workability by performing work saving power by means of mechanical force, not by means of human power when respective chuck claws are reciprocated and moved so as to pinch a rolled article or release it or when the locking or the locking release action is performed.

CONSTITUTION: An electrically powered chuck device is provided with a plurality of chuck claws 3, a plurality of rotors 8 for reciprocating these claws 3, a chuck main body 1 provided with a transmission body 4 for normally and reversely rotating the rotors 8 and a driving block body 2 provided with a driving gear to be engaged with and disengaged from the transmission body 4, so supported as to approach to and separate from the chuck main body 1, and for driving the driving gear by engaging with it in approaching. And a lock body 9 to be engaged with the transmission body 4 in separating of the driving block body 2, so as to lock the rotation and a lock mechanism 11 provided with a release operating body for releasing the engagement of the lock body 9 with the transmission body 4 in approaching of the driving block body 2 are provided on the chuck main body 1.
