Abstract:
PURPOSE: To stably bring a charging member into contact with a body to be charged and to improve the uniformity of electrification by controlling the contact angle with water on the surface of the body to be charged to a specified value or more.
CONSTITUTION: The photoreceptor is a negative charge-type OPC photoreceptor and consists of an aluminum drum base body 11 and five functional layers 12 to 16. The fifth layer 16 is the surface layer of the photoreceptor surface and is formed by applying a material prepared by dispersing SnO2 as conductive superfine particles (a) and fluorocarbon resin particles (b) such as Teflon (R) in a photosetting acryl resin. By dispersing the Teflon (R) particles (b), the surface energy and the frictional coefft. of the photoreceptor surface are decreased so that the top end of a brush uniformly touches the surface of the photoreceptor surface. By controlling the contact angle with water of the surface layer to >90°, uniformity of electrification is improved so that random irregularity of electrification in the subscanning direction can be eliminated.
