To produce an electrifying member capable of preventing electrification defects or contamination on a body to be electrified and obtaining excellent image quality while its advantages concerning to the environmental protection such as reduction in energy consumption in the production process or its recyclable property are maintained.
The electrifying roller 10 being this electrifying member has a semiconducting elastic layer 12 which consists of a thermoplastic elastomer with dispersion of an ionic conductive material and is formed on a conductive supporting body 11, and has a protective layer 13 which covers the surface of the semiconducting elastic layer 12 to prevent the ionic conductive material from bleeding to the surface. The semiconducting elastic layer 12 preferably consists of a thermoplastic elastomer containing polyether chains or polyester chains.
