PURPOSE: To provide an electrifying method capable of uniformly electrifying member to be electrified such as a photoreceptor and preventing the electrifying member and the member to be electrified from being stick to each other.
CONSTITUTION: In the electrifying method electrifying the member 2 to be electrified by the electric discharge generated in the process the surface of the electrifying member 1 and the surface of the member 2 to be electrified are allowed to be approach and recede mutually, the electrifying member 1 whose sum of power spectra in the segment becomes ≤0.11μm2 in the segment that the spatial frequency (f) is 10 cycle/mm≤(f)≤50 cycle/mm, when the profile curve of the electrifying member 1 surface is subjected to the spatial frequency analysis. By this way, the member 2 to be electrified is electrified without causing the electrification unevenness. Moreover, the electrifying member 1 and the member 2 to be electrified can be prevented from being stick to each other, by controlling the ten point average roughness of the surface of the electrifying member 1 to ≥3μm.
