Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device in which droplets supplied in a droplet discharge region surrounded by a barrier rib can make the thickness of a dried thin film uniform.
SOLUTION: In the electro-optical device including a barrier rib 42 consisting of a first barrier rib 43 for separating each region to form a plurality of regions on a substrate 10 while having lyophilic property and a second barrier rib 44 which is provided with liquid repellence and formed on the upper surface except the peripheral edge part surrounding the region of the first barrier rib 43, a functional layer 45 including at least a light-emitting layer formed in the region surrounded by the barrier rib, and a pair of electrodes 41, 46 for sandwiching the functional layer 45, the thickness of the first barrier rib 43 is sufficient compared with the functional layer 45, and the inclination angle of the first barrier rib 43 is smaller than that of the second barrier rib 44.
