Abstract:

To prevent the discontinuous change of picture quality near the boundary of a dummy pixel with a display pixel, and to suppress the increase of an area occupied by the dummy pixels in an electro-optical device such as a liquid crystal device.

The electro-optical device is equipped with: a plurality of pixel sections arranged on a pixel region; and a plurality of dummy pixel sections respectively arranged on a plurality of dummy pixel regions. Alignment pitches of the dummy pixel regions are less than those in the pixel region, and further gradually decrease with distance from an edge of the pixel region. A ratio of magnitude of the alignment pitch of the first dummy pixel region out of the dummy pixel regions adjacent to the pixel region to that of the pixel region is larger than a ratio of magnitude of the alignment pitch of the second dummy pixel region, adjacent to the first dummy pixel region from the side opposite to the pixel region, to that of the first dummy pixel region.
