PURPOSE: To provide an electro-optical device in which an entire driving circuit can be simplified.
CONSTITUTION: An electro-optical display device 3 having a 1st array 4 of display elements 5 and conductors 12 and 13 for addressing the display elements 5 is mounted on a 1st substrate 2. A 2nd array 7 of elements 8, which can be addressed by conductors 9 and 10, is mounted on a 2nd substrate 6. Photosensitive elements 11 are connected to the conductors 9 and 10 and when these elements 11 are irradiated with light, they output signals for accessing the elements 8 of the 2nd array 7 to the conductors 9 and 10. The 2nd substrate 6 is positioned on the 1st substrate 2, the photosensitive elements 11 correspond to one element 5' selected out of the display elements 5, the photosensitive elements 11 are irradiated with light by the selected display element 5' under the control of the display device 3, and the elements 8 of the 2nd array 7 can be accessed.
