Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical reaction apparatus that can stably operate over a long period of time, suppressing a time-dependent decline of an amount of the reduction product of CO.SOLUTION: An electrochemical reaction apparatus 1 in an embodiment comprises: a reaction tank 13 including a first housing unit 13A for accommodating a first electrolyte 15 with carbon dioxide and a second housing unit 13B for accommodating a second electrolyte 16 with water; a reduction electrode 11 placed in the first housing unit 13A; an oxidation electrode 12 placed in the second housing unit 13B; a counter electrode for a potential sweep when the reduction electrode 11 is a working electrode; a first power supply 70 for producing a reductive reaction and an oxidation reaction, being electrically connected to the reduction electrode 11 and the oxidation electrode 12; and a second power supply 80 for a potential sweep when it is electrically connected to the reduction electrode 11 and the counter electrode, and the upper-limit potential is an oxidation potential of the reduction electrode 11 or a less potential.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
