Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus which selectively decolors colored organic wastewater and at the same time efficiently detoxify the wastewater. SOLUTION: This electrochemical treatment apparatus comprises a reaction chamber 3 and an electrolytic chamber 4 partitioned by a partitioning wall 2 which is made of a hydrogen storage alloy and works also as a negative electrode and further comprises a positive pole 7 for oxidation installed in the electrolytic chamber 4 on the opposite to the negative electrode of the partitioning wall 2. An object to be treated is led to the reaction chamber 3 and brought into contact with the partitioning wall 2 made of a hydrogen storage alloy to be hydrogenated or reduced and then the resultant object is sent to the electrolytic chamber 4 to be anodized. Alternatively, an object to be treated is led to the electrolytic chamber 4 to be anodized and then sent to the reaction chamber 3 to be hydrogenated or reduced by being brought into contact with the partitioning wall made of the hydrogen storage alloy. A reaction catalyst layer is formed on the surface of the partitioning wall, which also works as the negative electrode, in the reaction chamber.
