PURPOSE: To obtain an ECD cell in a simple process by sealing an upper glass substrate and a lower glass substrate with a filmy sealing material formed in a frame shape.
CONSTITUTION: A sealing material is formed in a film shape to prescribed thickness (50W500μm), and then pressed to obtain a frame-shaped filmy sealing material 10. This sealing material 10 is mounted on the circumferential edge part of an upper or lower glass substrate 1 of 2, and the other glass substrate 2 of 1 is superposed. Then, the sealing material 10 is heated to be set, thereby fixing the upeer and lower glass substrates 1 and 2 with the sealing material 10. In this case, the upper and lower glass substrates 1 and 2 are applied with a silane coupling agent previously to obtain an ECD cell having high damp resistance. Because both the glass substrates 1 and 2 are fixed with the frame-shaped filmy sealing material 10, the ECD cell whose upper and lower glass substrates 1 and 2 sealed securely in a simple process is obtained easily.
