Abstract:
PURPOSE:To easily produce the display element by forming at least two points of projecting parts for registration on the non-joining surface side of the flange part of a counter electrode substrate. CONSTITUTION:The opposite electrode substrate 5 consists of a tray-shaped body part 5a and the flange part 5b. The flange part 5b is provided with the projecting parts 13 for registration. The counter electrode substrate 5 previously provided with a counter electrode material layer 7 and a background material 11 is placed on a jig 15. The projecting parts 13 for registration and recesses 15b are fitted and an adhesive agent 14 is applied atop the flange part 5b. The outside surface of the tray- shaped body 5a of the substrate 5 and the inside surface of the recessed part 15a of the jig 15 are contactless and the substrate 5 is supported to the jig by the projecting parts 13.... The square annular positioning jig 16 for the display photosensitive substrate is then imposed on the jig 15 and while the display electrode substrate 1 previously provided with an electrochromic material layer 3 on the rear surface is guided by the jig 16, this substrate is put on the counter electrode substrate 5. The two substrates 1, 5 are sealed by an adhesive to form the cell. The cell is then removed from the jigs 15, 16 and an electrolyte is sealed to the inside. A conductive layer 6a is formed and lead terminals 12a, 12b are mounted.
