Title:
ELECTROCHROMIC DISPLAY TIMEPIECE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS55155287
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the confirmation of second (time unit) action of a timepiece which indicates digits for minutes, by varying the density of electrochromic coloring and discoloration with the lapse of time to indicate driving for seconds.

CONSTITUTION: Divided second display electrode groups 1, 2, which are made of electrochromic elements whose coloring and discoloration response velocity is not slower than two seconds or the like, are driven through a sequence control circuit 4 and a driver circuit 3. The sequence control circuit includes an inverter 41 to which a control signal of 2Hz or the like is applied. The driver circuit comprises P-type FET's 31, 32 and N-type FET's 33, 34. In every two seconds, one of the groups 1, 2 takes a coloring density and the other takes a discoloration density. This enables the visual confirmation of the second action state of a timepiece which indicates digits for hours and minutes. The same effect can be produced even if the groups 1, 2 are driven by charge transfer.
