PURPOSE: To provide a binder composed mainly of an amidoamine modified epoxide resin capable of being diluted with water by proton donation and forming a thick paint film by reacting an epoxide, a hydroxy compound, a secondary amine, and amidoamine.
CONSTITUTION: This binder is obtained by a reaction of (A) an epoxide compound or an epoxide compound mixture having an epoxide equivalent of 2,000 or less, (B) an aliphatic or phenolic hydroxy compound monofunctionally reactive to the component A, (C) a 2-36C secondary amine, and (D) an amidoamine obtained from a primary diamine and mono- and/or dicarboxylic acid, wherein the reaction product of the components A, B and C still has free epoxide, and the component D contains primary amino group equivalent to this free epoxide group.
