PURPOSE: To provide the subject new composition composed of a water- dispersible resin capable of electrodeposition and a specified aqueous dispersion, excellent in coating-workability and stability thereof and capable of providing a matte coating film having an excellent chemical resistance and an excellent visual appearance.
CONSTITUTION: With (A) a water-dispersible resin capable of electrodeposition and preferably having cationic functional groups, (B) an aqueous dispersion prepared, e.g. by emulsion polymerization of a crosslinkable monomer (e.g. ethylene glycol diacrylate) containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer (e.g. methyl acrylate) in the presence of a water-dispersible epoxy resin having one or more quaternary ammonium bases chemically bonded to 1,2-epoxy in its molecule in an aqueous medium and containing fine resin particles having quarternary ammonium bases supported on the surface by a physical adhesion or a covalent bond, having a crosslinked structure in its molecule and having 0.01-5μm average particle size in an amount of 1-120 pts. wt. based on 100 pts.wt. component (A) is blended and other additive components are added thereto as necessary, thus obtaining the objective composition.
