Abstract:
PURPOSE: To safely and surely connect a new electrode by providing a clamp energized by a spring in a case.
CONSTITUTION: A connecting device 1 held by an upper clamp device 16 for an electrode A is carried, by a ceiling crane, just above an electrode A' to be connected held by an electrode holder C. The device 1 is gradually, lowered, and when the space between the lower end of the electrode A and the upper end of A' is 250-300mm, the lowering is stopped. When the switch of a control device 20 is turned ON, a compressed air is supplied to an air cylinder device 23, and the electrode A' is held by a clamp shoe 21b on the lower end of a clamp arm 21a. A rotating shaft is rotated by an air motor 9, and the electrode A is rotated together with the device 16. A is gradually lowered, and a nipple B is spirally fitted to the socket A1 of the electrode A'. The electrode A is lowered according to the screw pitch of the socket A1, the fastening of the screw is completed, and the electrode A' is connected to the electrode A.
