Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of an impact at the instant of the re-holding of electrodes or the extracting of a nipple in connecting the electrodes by load- detecting that the weight of the electrodes is supported by an electrode connecting device or an electrode holder respectively when a lift section is lifted or lowered, and stopping the ascent or descent.
CONSTITUTION: A lifting device 35 is extended, a lift section 31 is lifted, and a new electrode 26 is hoisted by a nipple 34. An arm 33 is extended via a hydraulic motor 36, and center lines of electrodes 25, 26 are matched. A solenoid selector valve 44 is switched to communicate pipes 43, 45 and pipes 48, 46 respectively, the lift section 31 is lifted, and a motor 38 is rotated to connect an electrode 25 to the electrode 26. The rotation of a screw 26 by the motor 38 is stopped, and the lift of the lift section 31 is stopped based on the load detection of a load detecting stage 55. The electrode 26 is clamped by a load holder 41, and the lift section 31 is gradually lowered. The descent is stopped based on the load detection of a load detecting means 56. The nipple 34 is rotated in the loosening direction by the motor 38, the lift section 31 is lifted, and the nipple 34 is extracted from the screw hole of the electrode 26.
