Title:
ELECTRODE FOR DISCHARGE LAMP, DISCHARGE LAMP, AND LIGHTING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3460365
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an electrode for use in discharge lamps, which is capable of always providing good-quality illumination by avoiding the flickering phenomenon or the like from occurring, a discharge lamp, and a lighting system.
CONSTITUTION: This electrode for a discharge lamp has a pair of spaced lead-in wires 3a, 3b, a discharge-pole forming filament coil 4 electrically connected and stretched between the lead-in wires 3a, 3b and having a resistance value of 5Ω or more when cold, and an electron emitting material 4a put over the outer peripheral surface of the filament coil 4 via a layer of insulating material 4b. Further, the filament coil 4a is coated with the electron emitting material 4a at its outer peripheral surface except the surfaces where discharge poles are formed. Alternately, the filament coil 4 is in the form of a double coil with a double-coil pitch (p) of 1mm or more and has a resistance value of 5Ω or more when cold. Each discharge lamp has the discharge-lamp electrode sealed therein, and a lighting system uses the discharge lamps as light sources.
