Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive carbon electrode material for redox flow battery having high activity.SOLUTION: In an electrode material for redox battery, conductive carbon fine particles are bonded, by an ion conductive binder, onto carbon fibers composed of a carbonaceous material having a pseudo-graphite crystal structure where the<002>plane interval obtained by X-ray wide angle analysis is 3.43-3.60 Å, the size of a crystallite in the c-axis direction is 15-50 Å, the size of a crystallite in the a-axis direction is 30-75 Å, and the number of bound oxygen atoms obtained by XPS surface analysis is 1.0% or more of the number of carbon atoms of the entire surface.SELECTED DRAWING: None
