Abstract:
PURPOSE:To shorten the manufacturing time, to simplify the structure, to reduce the welding portions and to enhance the quality and safety of an MHD generator by using hollow rods for a coolant medium exit as studs for fixing electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes have threads on the outer peripheries of hollow rods 13, and secured by nuts 14 to an insulating wall 5. The projections of the electrodes are two hollow rods 13 as a while, and respectively welded fixedly to electrode bodies 1. The electrodes are formed of copper having good thermal conductivity or stainless steel having excellent corrosion resistance. Cooling medium is fed from the rod 13 into the bodies 1, passed through a passage 2, and then exhausted from the rods 13 to cool the entire electrodes.
