To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery provided with high capacity and practical cycle characteristics, by using a compound active material in which carbon nanofibers (CNFs) are made to adhere to a preferred active material nucleus for increasing its capacity.
In a negative electrode for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a first compound negative electrode active material 34A, containing a first active material nucleus 35A to which the first CNF 36A of a large compressive stress, is adhered, and a second compound negative electrode active material 34B, containing a second active material nucleus 35B to which a second CNF 36B of a small compressive stress is adhered, are provided mixedly.
